I've been messing around with an open field in Maya, which is where my story will begin. So, far my attempts have been too washed out for my liking and I believe the cause is the sun is too bright. So, I've been trying to turn down the sunlight. From what I've read it's the multiplier setting in the natural sun. I am messing with that now. Took about 15 minutes for mental ray to render an image. If I am going to render a film this way it would take 30 days 24 hours a day to render the whole film. I don't think that's going to happen... This image was done with the Maya software and took about 12 minutes to render. I render a 30 second animation in about 90 minutes. I'd post it but video looks horrible on this site.
